Felipe II ordena a la ciudad de Mula que obedezca Jorge Manrique, corregidor de Murcia, Lorca y Cartagena y adelantado del reino de Murcia, en lo referente a socorrer a Cartagena enviando hombres pagados y con alimentos por tres días para la guardia de la ciudad. Mula se habia negado a hacerlo anteriormente justificándose en una ejecutoria que ganó al marqués de los Vélez, difunto adelantado, por la que no estaba obligada a socorrer más que a su tierra y costa.
